Choza Building Projects

planning

1. The Choza Yoga-Art Studio & Conference Space

One of our very talented Artists In Residence, Ben Higbee, came up with the design for this habitat. This space is designed as a space to inspire the ultimate creativity in the work of the Choza’s Artists in Residence. We are seeking funding to build this habitat to maximize the productivity of our Artists in residence program and provide space for future Advances at the Choza; Yoga weekends, Think Tanks and Conferences. As with all projects at the Choza, community involvement is of the highest importance. This habitat would be used to publicly exhibit the Art work produced at the Choza and to run creative, and educational, workshops for the Choza and local communities.

2. The Choza Community Cob Library

The Choza Cob library and personal residence is a concept for an additional habitat at the Choza, needed to house all the knowledge from Choza Fellowship and other programs. Costa Rica is in the tropics and the Choza located in a mountainous region of the San Jose province. The heat and humidity provide for a tremendous ecosystem and a vibrant life at the Choza, but they are not friends to paper or electronics. We are seeking funding to build this habitat, which will include a naturally sustainable dry room (using lots of charcoal produced from the Choza property), to mitigate this issue and support the Choza’s aim of being a multi disciplinary knowledge base for the local community and all Choza residents.

The Cob Library, would also have living quarters and a composting toilet to allow overnight or longer term residencies. The library and computer room would be open certain days of the week to the local community and be accessible all the time to members of the Choza community. The Choza would aim to publish all Fellowship studies here and host the Choza plant and animal species database for community reference.
